In terms of design, the Honor Magic 8 remains faithful to its predecessors. Measuring just 157.12 x 74.03 x 7.95 mm and weighing 205 g, the smartphone fits very comfortably in the hand. The build quality of the device is exceptional. Not only is it certified to IP68 and IP69, as is usual for flagship models, but also to IP69K. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 clocks at up to 4.6 GHz and is accompanied by an Adreno 840 GPU that can effortlessly handle the latest mobile games. The Honor Magic 8 also offers superlatives in terms of its built-in panel. It measures 6.58 inches and uses OLED technology, which promises particularly lifelike color reproduction and perfect black levels. However, its performance is impressive: it achieves up to 4000 nits across the entire surface and up to 6000 nits peak brightness. This makes the display one of the brightest on the market. At the same time, the brightness can be reduced to 1 nit – ideal for use at night. Thanks to LTPO technology, the refresh rate can be dynamically adjusted between 1 and 120 Hz. Dolby Vision and HDR Vivid are supported.
The Honor Magic 8 shows no weaknesses with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 120 Hz LTPO OLED display, a 50+50+64 MP triple camera, and a 7000 mAh battery.
There's no question about it: the Honor Magic 8 offers one of the best camera setups ever. The device stands out in particular on the front with its 50-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. There are three sensors on the back. The 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f/1.9 aperture promises outstanding results, especially in poor lighting conditions. If you want to extend the shooting angle to up to 122 degrees, there is a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, which can also take macro shots from a distance of only 2.5 cm. The highlight, however, is the 64-megapixel telephoto lens with an f/2.5 aperture and 3x optical zoom.
Another major strength of Honor is its charging technology. Here, the Honor Magic 8 outperforms other current flagships such as the Oppo Find X9 Pro and the Vivo X300 Pro. With up to 90 W, the internal battery can be charged via USB C cable. Wireless charging is also possible at a record-breaking speed of up to 80 W. The size of the built-in battery is also impressive. It has an impressive capacity of 7000 mAh and is significantly larger than its predecessor.
